The Honorable Abbey Ajayi is a proven leader, financial expert, and long-term Broward County resident with more than three decades of experience in public service and the financial industry. As Broward County Tax Collector, she leads one of Florida’s newest and second largest constitutional offices, overseeing the collection and distribution of local tax revenue that funds essential community services.
Before her election, Abbey served in Broward County’s Records, Taxes & Treasury Division, where she advanced modernization, efficiency, and transparency. Her leadership emphasizes technology, customer accessibility, and fiscal accountability.
A Certified Florida Collector and MBA graduate of Florida Atlantic University, Abbey previously held leadership roles with Wells Fargo, Smith Barney-Morgan Stanley, and First Union Bank. She continues to champion financial literacy, operational excellence, and public trust—values that guide her lifelong commitment to serving the people of Broward County.
The Broward County Tax Collector’s Office is an independent constitutional office operating in accordance with Florida Statutes. The Office’s primary responsibility is to collect and distribute ad valorem and non-ad valorem real estate taxes that are set by the County Commission, local taxing authorities and special levying districts. The monies collected are used to fund essential services and community programs, including public safety, hospitals, schools, roads, parks and more.
